Refurbished Laptops 101

May 15th, 2008 by rileysimstll

Many people want to buy a refurbished laptop in order to save money. There are several companies that conveniently sell used laptops over the Internet. However, regardless of the company one gets his or her laptop from, one should so a bit of research before buying.

There are four major laptop manufacturers. They are IBM, Dell, Hewlett-Packard/Compaq, and Toshiba. Different companies have different components in their laptops. All of these companies sometimes get their components from other distributors. Laptops are usually assembled by different companies other than the company that is selling it. Some of the components made by third party companies are LCD displays, CPU, hard drives, keyboards, and memory.

Having components from other companies can ensure that those components are high quality. However, when refurbishing a laptop, it can make it difficult because the components are not all from a single source. When looking for a refurbished laptop, it is always a good idea to try to find out what is inside the refurbished laptop. Some companies may have a bad product year, and one certainly does not want a bad product inside of his or her laptop.

Another tip for looking for good refurbished laptops is to check the warranty offered by the refurbishing company. Companies that offer great warranties do so because they have faith in their products. Skimpy warranties often mean that the company may not use the best products in order to refurbish laptops. You can also call customer support in order to observe how responsive they are. Companies that take pride in their service and are committed to their customers will have good products.

It is important to decide what the purpose of the laptop will be. If the laptop will be used mainly for word processing and browsing the web, then minimal CPU is needed. Additionally, copious amounts of memory won’t be needed for simple computer processes. For Internet access, it again depends on what the purpose of the laptop is. 56k modems come standard in many laptops. Wireless Internet access is constantly increasing across the country. Many laptops come with wireless access standard. For business purposes, wireless access is a great feature. Older laptops may lack Ethernet connections, but with refurbishing, they can be easily added.

The final and most important rule when shopping for a refurbished laptop is to keep price in mind. The more features that a laptop has, the more expensive it will be. If the laptop will be used for graphics programs or video games, then it will probably be much more expensive. Search Google for the best laptop prices, and make sure to inquire about each seller’s reputation. Buying a good refurbished laptop at a reasonable price won’t be difficult if you do your research.

Fat Burning Exercises

May 14th, 2008 by rileysimstll

Fat burning exercises are the slow, aerobic, long duration types of exercise that involve most of the major muscle groups. Your body will burn a higher percentage of calories from fat with lower intensity cardio exercises.

Fat burning exercises include walking, jogging, running, elliptical exercise trainer workouts, cycling and swimming. The key factor to keep in mind is the more muscle groups you use, the more fat you’ll burn.

Different type of exercises will burn more sugar rather than burning fat. Sugar burning exercises involve brief spurts of movement followed by rest which results in more sugar that is used for fuel instead of fat.

Sugar burning exercises include sprinting, tennis, racquetball, basketball, and golf. While these are great sports that benefit your overall fitness condition, they are different type of exercises that will not burn as much fat like fat burning exercises will.

To burn fat effectively, exercise at a moderate pace for a longer period of time. The residual effect of this type of aerobic exercise gives you the most benefits.

These aerobic fat burning exercises increase your metabolism which means you’ll burn calories long after you exercise. People who exercise on a regular basis develop more fat burning enzymes than people who don’t exercise at all.

By doing just twenty minutes of fat burning exercises you get those fat burning enzymes working. So if you are just starting out, exercise for at least twenty minutes and work up from there as your fitness level improves. Try to set 3 days a week as your goal to workout and work up to 5 days as you become more fit.

Home treadmills and elliptical exercise trainers are perfect for fat burning exercises. These fitness machines will give you the slow, aerobic, long duration types of exercise that work best to burn fat.

They are the most popular pieces for home gyms because they allow you to stay fit in any weather condition. They are easy to use and cost efficient because quality fitness equipment will last for many years.

If you want to reduce body fat, eating properly will always help. But by combining it with fat burning exercises, it will give you the excellent results you are looking for.

Making A Fashion Statement With Mobile Phone Accessories

May 13th, 2008 by rileysimstll

If you’ve just bought yourself a brand new mobile phone then you might be wondering what sort of exciting accessories you can buy to make it look even better. There are so many different mobile phone accessories to choose from that it can be difficult.

If you have chosen to buy a big brand mobile phone then it will be possible for you to purchase authentic mobile phone accessories, such as mobile covers, headsets, and cases. However this doesn’t mean that you have to stick to them.

Mobile phone jewelry is very popular at the moment, and by that I mean the dangly straps and pretty things that you can add to your phone. These are available for pretty much any type of phone; you just need a hole in the case!

It used to be very popular to change the phone cover itself, however that doesn’t seem quite as important now. I can’t actually think of one phone that you can easily change the covers on. Of course there are aftermarket cases that can be added fairly easily with a bit of knowhow and a torx screwdriver, but these aren’t recommended!

You might just want a simple Bluetooth headset; there are many different types available. In case you didn’t know Bluetooth is the industry standard for wireless communication, it can be used not only for headsets but it can also be used to transmit files and connect your phone to a computer.

Some phones even support stereo Bluetooth hands free kits, which are especially useful if you have a phone capable of playing back MP3’s. Bluetooth used to be a fairly rare thing to see on a phone, however these days virtually every single phone has Bluetooth as standard.

If you’re looking for some great mobile phone accessories then you should be able to find some really good deals by looking on the Internet. You can also visit your local phone store of course, however the choice will be much more limited.

Everybody longs to have a unique phone which is why the personalization of phones is so popular, there are so many different ways that we can customize our phones now, we can use accessories and we can change the wallpaper or the ringtones very easily with modern phones.

Whatever you choose to customize your phone with make sure you invest in high quality accessories. It might be worthwhile choosing only genuine accessories.

Do I Buy a Personal or a Business Computer?

May 12th, 2008 by rileysimstll

In any online business having a computer capable of performing business computing. Any computer used for online business will need to be able to handle business computing software and the more robust business use. Pricing will need to be considered as well. You will want a fast processor and plenty of RAM. Intel Core 2 Duo will process faster than Celeron so if speed is a requirement of your business applications you will want to gravitate to Intel. Get the right tool for the right job, so in computer processing if speed is not an issue, Celeron will save some costs.

Whether you get a computer from a business computer store or a personal computer for the job, remember in either case, business software will not necessarily come with it. The main difference is likely to be the version of windows, and the way the computer looks on the desk. Business computers and personal computers are made by the same companies, and have the same hardware.

You can well ask if a personal computer or business computer is better. Either is good for certain portions of business applications. What you do not want to happen is for the computer to be down. It is not a good idea to look for the cheapest computer, but looking for the computer which meets your needs at the lowest price for that computer is.

Consumer computers are tested and so are business computers. Remember business class hardware is what you find in both classes of computers as they both have the same general hardware.

Most computer problems are due to software, not hardware problems. Most business use computers to access internet sites, letters, emails, spreadsheets, and accounting. The issue is not consumer verses business computer, but business software and how well it works with the computer, and how reliable the computer system is.

If computer reliability and needs is determined to be a consumer brand rather than a business brand, then by all means use the consumer. On the other hand if the opposite is determined to be true go with the business brand. While business is regular warned to use business brands, the fact is most small business uses computers only slightly more than the consumer brand in the home.

Mobile Phones And The Battle Of The Big 3

May 9th, 2008 by rileysimstll

The release of the Nokia N81 8gb means some serious competition for other mobile phone manufacturers, but is it enough to take the mighty Apple iPhone? This article attempts to answer the question. Who is winning the battle of the multimedia phone of 2008. As we see it there are three manufacturers vying for top spot and these are Nokia, Apple and Sony Eriksson. Who will win is anybody’s guess.

Nokia seems to be going 8GBcrazy at the moment. They seem to release the model, then a couple of months later they release an 8GB version. They did this with the Nokia N95 and the Nokia N81, both the latest editions from the Finnish giants. Of course space is of the utmost importance in today’s digital age, so much so that 8GB may not even be enough to satisfy the music hungry generation.

The apple iPhone is as slick as would expect from a company that brought you the global phenomenon that is the iPod. The iPod turned around a failing company, making them a powerhouse in terms of electrical gadgets and music companions. Now as they attempt to take on the mobile phone world, some say that they don’t understand the market. But would you want to bet against them?

Sony Ericsson had a disappointing 2007, with a loss of market share to Nokia. They have come out fighting with three altogether beautiful handsets. First the Sony Ericsson K850i boasts one of the best camera’s to grace a mobile phone. The Sony Ericsson W910i and W960i are both music offerings, but both are solidly built and perform the most fervent tasks admirably. Where Sony Ericsson have a problem is in trying to coax the huge numbers of loyal Nokia fans to switch allegiance. That is no easy task.

So who is winning the battle? As it stands it has to be Nokia. They have increased market share to 40% and have a host of fantastic handsets available. However competition is getting fiercer than ever. Nobody can afford to become complacent.

Mark Hirst runs a website dedicated to finding you great mobile phone deals. If you would like to purchase the LG viewty then you can visit his site. If you would like to view Sony Ericsson w960i deals then why not pay this specially designed page a visit?

How To Improve Your Tennis Serve

May 8th, 2008 by rileysimstll

Do you want to become a better tennis player?

If so…

This is the place to be. I have tennis techniques that I think you’ve never heard before, and they will improve your serve tenfold!

A while back I was searching online to improve my Roddick serve style, and I found a resource that any tennis player needs.

The amazing resource helped me improve the speed of my serve drastically, and it also helped me with every other aspect of my game.

You will be able to increase your serve speed by 10-20 Mph when you use this serve technique.

Every tennis player is looking for the tips that will evolve into solid technique.

That is what this resource does.

This resource works for beginner and experienced tennis players.

If you are a beginner expect 10-50 Mph improvement on your serve.

If you are an expert expect 10-20 Mph improvement on your serve.

These improvements will take place in only a few weeks of using these techniques.

The first thing you can improve is your basic serve.

How can you improve your basic serve?

Most people learn their basic serve without any pre-research. They learn technique that not only lacks power, but can cause injury to themselves.

It isn’t your fault, most people allow themselves to have bad form due to lack of coaching, you need to correct this.

What would you suggest?

Try serving like this:

1) Hold the ball with your right foot parallel to baseline and your left foot pointing at the net.

2) Hold the ball by your right leg and imagine a straight up and down throw.

3) As you release the ball, bring your raquet back.

4) Shift your weight onto your back foot.

5) This is where alot of beginners have problems, the trick is to bend your knees after, not before, the ball is released. Your legs will contribute alot of power to your serve, making it that much faster.

6) To get maximum power, your raquet needs to be hanging down behind you almost limp with a relaxed wrist. This puts the least strain on your arm and prevents damage.

7) Straighten your legs, straighten your eblow, than use all that built up energy to torpedo your wrist around with the formerly limp raquet in hand. Do not snap your wrist as this will cause damage. Let the momentum whip it around, the power is not from the wrist.

8) Your point of contact with the ball should be when directly above you. Watch your raquet strike the ball for a split second. Many beginners don’t even look at the ball when they do this, so it is no wonder they have trouble aiming the serve. Once again let me re-iterate, hit the ball at full extension. Far too many people hit the ball too low.

This is just a small portion of a proper serve, and their are five other basic tennis serves.

Tips to Maintaining Your Printer by Yourself

May 7th, 2008 by rileysimstll

It is easy to forget about your printer as you go about your computing needs. It sits there on your right hand side and springs to life when needed. Or at least it is supposed to. If you do not take a minute or two, a couple of time per week, you may find some interesting words coming out of your mouth when streaks or paper jams occur.

Keep it clean

This is easily said and done. The printer heads are the biggie in this area. Printer heads are definitely prone to clogging. If they are not used on a regular basis, or if they are used at a quick clip, they will clog. Every now and again take out the printer cartridges and give a quick clean with a non-linting cloth or moistened Q-tip. If you do use your printer quite a bit think about all those pieces of paper rolling through the printer. It is unlikely that each and every piece of paper will roll through without a shard or tear coming off the paper. These shards will attach themselves to the rollers or other inconvenient printer elements. It is wise to open up the printer every now and again and give it a quick wipe down with a moistened Q-tip.

Turn off and cover

It may seem like many of these tips involve the printer heads, and they do. The printer heads are the area where most preventable maintenance issues occur. Most people, me included, are prone to turning off the computer but not the printer. This leaves the printer heads exposed to the air and possibly drying out. At the ends of the day turn off the printer at the printer. Not from the power cord but at the printer. This will cover the printer heads. Particularly if you are in a dusty region, or if you have a pet, cover you printer. Dust and hair are killers for a printer.

Use the printer

One of the biggest ways to take care of your printer is to use it. Many people really do not use the printer all that much, myself included. This is a digital age and everything tends to stay on the computer. At least twice a week print something that will use all the printers’ workings. A colorful website will do but give it a bit of a workout and most of the other maintenance issues will never arise.

Choosing The Right Bar Code Reader

May 5th, 2008 by rileysimstll

The importance of a bar code reader in this day and age cannot be denied. A lot of practical and pragmatic applications for a bar code reader have been rendered essential by the changing times. Whether you’re running a commercial establishment, a public or private library, a company that employs a lot of people, or a school that is attended by numerous students, a bar code reader would do wonders for your daily operations.

A bar code reader would greatly help you in organizing your database, maintaining a good record of your inventory, monitoring and tracking the movement of items and people, and ensuring the security of your premises. These far-reaching benefits of using a bar code reader and simply fantastic!

But not all barcode readers are built alike. A bar code reader may come in many forms, and some are just better than others. Well, at least for particular needs, that is. Much care and deliberation should be invested in the choice of the right bar code reader for your enterprise.

Here is a guide that would hopefully help you in choosing the perfect bar code reader for your needs:

* Know the reason why you need a barcode reader. Is it to keep watch of the items used for your trade? Is it to reduce staff time in automating certain processes? Is it to monitor the entry and exit of people to and from your premises? It is to track the movement of items to and from your storage facility? The choice of a bar code reader greatly depends on the purpose for its usage.

* Check the numerous features of various barcode readers in the market today. A bar code reader is available in three forms. First, we have the laser-based bar code reader which makes use of light emitted from the bar code reader itself to identify and verify the barcodes of a particular item. Second, we have a charged coupled device (CCD) bar code reader which makes use of light emitted from the numerous light sensors in the barcodes which the bar code reader would gather and decode for identification and verification. Third, we have a camera-based bar code reader which takes a picture, literally speaking, of the barcodes, and identifies and verifies the same through the varying hues and contrasts of the bars of the latter. Each kind of bar code reader is good for particular industries. A laser-based bar code reader is perfect for monitoring the entry and exit of people to and from your premises, for example. A CCD bar code reader is perfect for tracking the movement of your company’s supplies and tools, as well as permanent identification tags for employees and students. And a camera-based bar code reader is perfect for monitoring and regulating the movement of more sensitive items in your inventory.

* Canvass. A better price for a bar code reader would always save you some cash for other investments. There will be barcode readers offered at lower prices from some sources, so it would be best to seek these out first and foremost.

* Choose a credible and reliable company. A bar code reader company with an established track record of excellence would be a safer bet. A bar code reader would be a longtime investment, so might as well get things right the first time around.

A bar code reader would serve your business for a long, long time. Choosing the right one, therefore, would be the essential first step for a rewarding partnership that would render the processes in your enterprise more convenient.
